General Rules:

  1. You must be 21 to join La Vida Libre. No exceptions. Don't ask.
  2. You must post a minimum of once per week. More is happiness.
  3. All Posts are written in the third person (he, she, it)
  4. Keep your verb tenses straight!
  5. Use the formating patterns below for starting and ending posts
  6. Spell check, spell check, spell check!
  7. Don't make Captain Blake angry. You wouldn't like her when she's angry.
    1. Post Etiquette

It is generally considered polite to only write scenes and dialogue for your character. Don't write responses for other characters. Do a joint post with them.

Don't write a post and leave holes for other people to fill in. That's rude!

      Post Formatting

Just like a good journalist, you should cover certain basic facts in your posts. The classic journalist's questions of Where, Who, When, What and Why are applicable to posting as well.

Because it can make putting a post into perspective with other posts much easier, La Vida Libre will use the following method of opening a post which lets people establish the setting in their minds quickly. For example, if you were playing Sam Snead, who was on the bridge, you might write a block which read:

(La Vida Libre, Bridge; Sam Snead, Captain Blake; MD3, 14:30)

We also want to know who posted this amazing masterpiece! Give yourself credit. Please make a signature block, which can be set up in your profile settings. Consider this example:

      Sam Snead
      Passenger/Smuggler
      La Vida Libre

This gives us some information that may be useful in replying to the post, as well as answering the question that does occasionally occur: "Who the heck is this Snead person, and why is he on the bridge?"

      Use of NPCs

Any PC may use any NPC onboard a ship or station. You can use these people to interact with in matters you think aren't important enough to involve another PC in, or when you need to do things that are outside the realm of the other PCs.

There is a special class of NPCs, called Prominent (or Personal) NPCs, or PNPCs. These are NPCs that someone has spent a lot of time writing, and providing depth to. These PNPCs should be treated in much the same way you'd treat a person's PC, and interactions with them should be handled by joint posts.

      NRPG's (Non-Role Playing Game)

Occasionally, it is useful or even necessary for the players to make comments which their character would not, or impart information which the character would not know. This is best handled in the Discussion forum, rather than in a mission post. You'll find the mission discussion link on the home page of the forum.
